Scones are a dense cookie/cake like treat, these are especially good with the lemon glaze! This recipe is on the Pioneer Woman's blog and I've linked her directions below.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 lb unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • zest of 1 lemon


  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/8 cup whole milk (more as needed
  • zest and juice from 1 lemon

I would suggest making the glaze with more lemon if you don't want it to taste too much like powdered sugar.
